Thanks Phil, I forgot to say mine is an Oct 2010, but only done 10K.
I have checked the wires and they seem ok.
I have just taken it off the optimate, I think I'll leave it for a week and see how it starts.
I seem to remember a similar "clicking" and non-starting on one of my other bikes, but like you, can't remember what it was. I did wonder whether something was just sticking after not being used for so long, as it's just an electrical clic sound, but can't remember. Did I just say that....Oh dear
