Sometimes so called "solutions" only create problems.
As said follow the advice already given about stripping,cleaning,greasing.
You cant overtighten the mount bolts for centre stand since they are only threaded for a certain distance-the midsection acts as pivot for the stand.
WD40 has its uses but is NOT suitable for lubricating areas that require GREASE.
While you are dismantling stand-there is NO OTHER Way to lubricate it properly-thats why it gets "forgotten"-check for structural integrity-ie that its not corroded/weakened to the point where the legs move out of alignment.
Its cheaper & safer in the long run to do the job properly-a collapsed stand is not funny! :eek
