Seeing as someone from MCN seems to be picking up comments it seems an ideal opportunity to give some feedback about experiences at the London show.
From my point of view, Excel is just down the road, so it's an ideal show to attend, but it's grossly overpriced! I don't want to see all the live action stuff, I want to see new bikes and kit, with the chance of a good deal.
MCN offer advance tickets for £16, but you can't actually buy one for £16 because the link sends you to an agent who demands a £1.50 "fulfilment" fee. Do I feel fulfilled? Do I b*ll*cks!
Then, if you want to buy anything, you take the car. Last year it was £15 to park. For a show that you couldn't spend more than half a day at, it's a rip off. If the London Dive Show hadn't given me something to do in the afternoon, anything I saved on deals at the show would have been written off!
Then there's the show itself: it seems to have been getting smaller year on year, and is much smaller than the NEC event. Fewer exhibitors means fewer deals and therefore fewer punters and a downward spiral.
I'm well aware that a lot of the costs are down to Excel, but I have to say that I wouldn't be going this year if the Dive Show wasn't on at the same time again. There isn't enough to attract individuals who aren't bothered with an artificial race show and couldn't care less if Foggy opens it.
How about returning to AllyPally? Certainly a venue change should reduce costs to exhibitors and visitors, and might make London the premium show, rather than an also-ran.
