New to Fazers (and pretty much new to Yamahas)

Hi and welcome, please don't kill the the cat, it's there for a reason (where the exhaust goes through the swing arm, I think?) if it becomes part of the mot, what then?
Personally I don't like loud exhausts they just annoy people and attract Mr Plod which you don't need?
