If it wont start in gear (with the side stand up) it is the clutch switch to look at.
If it wont turn over at all, check the kill switch.
If it loses power and dies then wont restart straight away (but turns over), try opening the fuel tank. If you get a hiss, check the breather pipes are not kinked under the tank. Another option could be carb icing so check the carb heaters.
Too warm for carb icing, and it would run and sound like a tractor as well, i have fond memories of this in times gone by.
On a similar note though, could it be symptoms of water in the carbs?
