this has been posted on a number of forums, general opinion being - yes, he was going a bit fast but the driver is obviously to blame. i've been riding and driving for 30 plus years and the speed was totally unacceptable. if he was in a car doing a ton, everyone would be saying he was an idiot. but we bikers seem to think that excess speed is acceptable. i generally ride over the limit but not around built-up areas and junctions etc. i've also been in my car and not seen a biker flying towards me (seen the fighter pilot vid?)so i know what that is like. the driver of the car admitted not seeing the bike but the closing speed is horrendously fast so some sympathy should go to him. after all, he has taken a life. to be honest, after witnessing some riders riding like complete twats around mid wales, it doesnt surprise me about the number of fatalities of late.
