The gasket on the gear lever cover can leak (not the seal on the output shaft itself) which is what Tmation was saying, but be sure first that it's not chain lube. He's also right on with the ideas for the rattle, along with the usual 'check EXUP' advice.
If you need any tips on installing Ivan's kit, drop me a PM. Pattern inlet rubbers aren't available so it's new or a breaker's yard for replacements. If it's only surface-level cracking, don't worry ... the rubber is thick and there's also a metal core inside the stub.
