Hey Nick, I lost my parents within 10 months of eachother in 2011 and 2012, seems strange writing those years, in writing it seems a long time ago, in my heart it was only yesterday! It's not easy seeing people who are your heros deteriorate. Hang in there matey, take strength from those around you, battle on and come on here when you need some abuse to keep you grounded 
Maybe give the Europe trip a miss, your Dad needs you more right now and when the worst does happen you'll have a bike trip to plan and something to look forward to.....trust me, you'll need it! Also, by postponing, you can stick a few quid a month into a little money box and then come the trip you can have the trip you really want rather than one on a budget and one that puts you in the red.
Looking forward to seeing you again on a LOFO ride soon (if I can get a pass from the wife LOL).
oh, PS, dump the yellow bike and get a red one.....the extra speed will make everything ok all the while you're on the bike! :lol
