Stupid injuries done to yourself whilst DIY ing
#13
I once chopped my middle finger off while cutting strips of plastic on a hand bench guillotine. I was wondering where all the red ink was coming from (in my first job I was a screen printer). Hold on I haven't been printing red? Still this red ink kept appearing on these strips of white plastic. I checked the bench for ink then checked my hands.... Aaaaaaggggghhhhh MY FUCKING FINGER'S HANGING OFF! That's when the pain hit me, and all of a sudden there was a lot more blood.

The hospital did a really good job at sewing it back on. They said I was lucky not to have cut through the main flexor digitorum profundus (Tendon) or I would have lost the bendy action at the end of my finger.

Another time I was welding an eye on a side stand to take a different length spring. During the job the spring dropped to the ground so I picked it up in the palm of my hand where it branded me.

I remember my brother when we were at school went to remove a chuck key from a spinning lathe. It looked stationary because it had been strobed by a flickering light tube. He lost about three finger nails but was lucky to keep his fingers.
Some say that he eats habanero chilli peppers dipped in oil of capsaicin for extra bite and that his pyjamas are made from Nomex. All we know is, he's called Ad the Bad
