Wingracks are really the way forward if hard luggage is what you want. I've done endless searching for luggage options.
Soft is the cheapest and easiest to obtain. Wingracks are the most obvious choice for 3 case set ups but the fitting kits are near impossible to get hold of (took me nearly a year). There is one on eBay at the moment so if your serious about hard luggage I'd do a search (I also posted a link on someone's post in the sale/wanted section).
If money is no issue then sw motech do some excellent luggage systems that you can buy whichever plate for whatever luggage (givi, hepco Becker krauser etc.). The pannier rails are removable when you don't want them (unlike Wingracks but I've managed to set mine up in a way that with 4 bolts I've attached it). The motech systems are about £180 for the pannier rails and c.£100 for the top box rack (not sold as a full kit unfortunately). Then your luggage on top.
With the Wingracks a lot of people here recommend givi/kappa e21's if you take pillions due to issues with footpeg space. I can't recommend any pannier sizes at the mo as I'm still looking for a reasonably priced set.
Hope all that helps!!!
