Stevie..i think you want me to get an MT09......you know what.......I think i'm gonna end up having one...the reasons are:-
By start of season next year i'm gonna really be looking at the 4k mark for a bike.......so old'ish bikes.....from what I've seen so far even low miles old bikes can and often do look a bit tatty.
Looking at my original requirements the MT09 suits them all.....it has the leg room...is grunty...not too much top end...doesn't have a fairing.....handles well.
But the price......circa 7.5K via finance....allot of money but cheap in comparison to most others.
Ok I've still to visit Honda & the one bike I do wanna see & ride from there is the CB1000r....ok it might be an awesome bike....best thing since sliced bread perhaps....but i'd only be affording an old one for circa 5k...still a used bike....because comparison bike v bike the brand new CB1000R is.......10 foccin K!!! :eek
so even if I did max out on finance and get a CB1000R.....what exactly am I getting for 3K more.....ok perhaps snobs will say greater reliability...but not 3k worth, if any, as both bikes are unproven long term.....so what else....ok maybe a better pillion seat.
so put like that the MT09 is cracking value.
Now if i'm sensible with the finance & pump my 4k into the deposit instead of spending it on shite instead...then my monthly payments are potentially........£92.00 a month 8) .....so £92.00 for 36 months to own one of the latest bikes...hassle free A road blasting for 3 years.....no more foccing about all the time.....Christ the money I've spent on noggfighter probably averages out at about the same amount...I dread to think about it.
The MT should be a hoot....600 riders will aim for it as the 'I just smoked one of those new MT things' type bike & I welcome that.Bigger capacity bikes will be within range too...so fun with everyone it is please....around Wales it would be perfect I reckon.
So the Honda CB best have something special up its sleeve coz i'm looking likely to be cruising into MT territory on a Welsh road pretty soon....all I need is a decent test ride to confirm my thoughts & to choose the right dealer because I am guessing that they 'should' be able to lower the APR rate to a low risk person ie me coz im paying a vast deposit (any advice on this???)......JT's in Swansea today was really good..i appreciated the owner taking his time to show me round so i'd like to give him the business....but I need to be armed with what is possible before I start asking him to bump down the APR for me.
Another thing...if I wait til next season delivery then perhaps these reported concerns with the MT09 jerkiness on the throttle will be ironed out a bit.
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike
