Hey Dave, i think you're mixed up with thunder road (what a cool name)..they have 1 showroom in Newport which is Honda which ill go to on 13th plus another one in Bridgend.
J.T's though was impressive...compared to where i went yesterday the blokes were less geezerish & instead of fobbing me off in comparison the owner of J.T's was very happy to help & show me around & it was a much more relaxed atmosphere......J.T's are a yamaha & suzuki main dealer but they have a wide mix of everything else....he wasnt a bullshitter & was even telling me he doesn't particularly find the MT09 that comfy but then he was an older geezer & has the pick of any bike.
Didnt have an MT09....but had the MT07.....it does look tiny.
THe KTM & aprillia crew were there....aprilia shiver, KTM 950SM, KTM superduke, Aprillia Dorsodura......right then did i sit on them...no.....why....because you could tell the difference a few years had made to these machines...not high mileage but paint starting to flake & metal finish looking worn & tarnished.......which brings me to....
Aprillia Tuono....wow what nice looking bikes these are...hard to inspect the finish closely with the plastic.....had a seat...very very comfy & the bars sit perfect...legs weren't too squashed either....but peering through the plastic revealed a bit of grime & tarnish....even the noggyfighter looks cleaner after a good scrub so maybe that's just the way of things with these bikes.....i would consider a minted one......i can see how cool Stevies R1 would have been with fat wide bars.......it has got me thinking about how cool one of those Honda VTR1000 firestorms would be with wide bars....& i wonder who could do a conversion for me...worth a thought while I'm in dream land.
Also got to see the BMW F800.....very nice....bars slightly sporty...i liked it...but prob not enough of an upgrade from noggyfighter...more of a level peg.
So 1 step closer....
MT09 finances or pcp permitting.
Aprillia Tuono if i come across one immaculate enough.
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike
