How big is the tank?  As it's an old tech diesel and not one of these modern high pressure common rail things, it won't be too bothered about a bit of petrol mixed in with the diesel.  If you can get it down to about a 10/90 petrol/diesel mix, it'll be fine.

Back in the day we always put some petrol in the diesel to stop it freezing, admittedly 10 quids worth in such a small tank is to much.
