any protection is worth wearing i reckon. i was on a ladder safety course and they played a youtube vid of some bloke who had broken his back falling off a ladder. what he wished for most of all, surprisingly, was not so much being able to walk again but the dignity of being able to wipe his own arse etc. quite moving to watch. it should be played in all bikesafe courses.
