I watched this on the iplayer today...well i only watched the hot hatch bit and yes it was OTT.
and it showed me for the chav i really am..
i used to have a Nova SR.......& yes i did actually put it in a ditch and yes it was fun
& i had 3 Mk2 golf gti's, 2 8 valves and 1 16 valve
Plus my last Mk2 golf i modified with RS turbo Recaro seats on the golf mountings :car ...... :foc

Anyway if top gear had hot hatches on every week then i'd be hooked but as others have said they are trying too much to please everyone at the moment, it's more entertainment to keep the wifes happy..with a smattering of cars...it's more a show for bankers now who can afford Merc CLK's and Jags..only a matter of time before theres a live phone in from home involving votes and a panel of celebrities deciding which car is best. :rolleyes .

even then it is probably the best thing on telly on a sunday night.

I also enjoyed the Hot Hatch part for its creation of nostalgia as I had 2x Mk2 Golf GTi's (8v) as well ^^

Awesome cars and I would probably buy one again, but a decent example - not the two dogs I had before

... I still haven't paid more than £500 for a car. Ever. :\
