I think I'd rather do the A142-ish route
Fairly open countryside, but at least there should be less traffic.
When I bought my CBR i rode back at 10pm, first 600 I'd ridden after passing my test and after riding a Hyosung GV125 for 2 years, in February, at about 3 degrees. Great fun.
I'm sure you'll be fine, just take it steady (is there any other way on a YBR)
