I've dropped the bike once at a stand still since I've had these fitted (2 or 3 years, quite an acheivement for shortarsed me) and they did a considerably better job than the crash bungs fitted previously which allowed the edges of the front fairing to hit the deck and get foc'ed up. Like you, I think crash bungs on the 600 are not very effective, I think their position low down makes them less than ideal.
Renntec & Heed (latter look neater to me) look beefier but the above has done everything I'd expect from crash bars so the fact they're smaller, lighter & cheaper is a positive point in my book.
