Engaging first gear, Clutch issue?

Another example might be in slow moving traffic that I think is going to stop - click in to first ready. Again, maybe a strange habit to do it before I stop - maybe just laziness to get it changed before I put my foot down.

Pre-judging a gear selection is what I've been taught to do including shifting to first a little before needing to put my foot down. Though it was normal. But yeah, first becomes pretty redundant after I'm moving at anything but a crawl. Although we do have a corner that goes back on itself and steeply uphill at the same time that I use it for.
