I think it's just one of those things you need to do to try and get out of your system.
It's not like it's even enjoyable, your neck takes a hammering trying to fight the wind with your lid, your concentration and judgement has to be extra sensitive whilst looking way ahead, and it really helps if there's very little or no wind at all.
The fact I had a passenger actually helped because I also have a top box and the passenger helped streamline the bike a bit better, when it's just me the top box will eventually cause the bike to wobble at high speed because of the wind.
And of course there's the major fact that you have to take road conditions on trust, and after just watching the news and seeing the ever increasing potholes then it's literally a fingers crossed scenario.
