when I got my FZ-1 in 06 I wanted blue with black engine. Had none but silver . At 5995 brand new OTR I couldnt refuse tbh....
would now be intrested to try a later bike with better fuelling and shock etc. Even after all my spending on tuning ( £1100), it still didnt pull like I wanted. Loads of power , but felt weak to ride in top till 7k rpm.That really influenced my thinking of the bike.
Am very interested in the new S1000R naked beemer....but have sneaking feeling that will feel like a FZ-1 to ride still..... :\
On the plus side, always loved the sweet handling of the FZ-1...and rather oddly I now own a beemer whose engine I could also happily toss in the bin, but has probably the best handling chassis I have ever ridden ! ... us bikers are indeed very fickle... :lol
If you want low down stomp don't bother with an IL4 1000! GO try either a big bore 4, so something like an XJR1300 or GSF1250 (but they won't handle as well), or maybe a twin/triple, something like a Tuono or Speed?
