yesterday at the garage

I ride the bike around to the next pump and he's at it again before I can get the nozzle out of the pump. WTF? :rolleyes
A woman opens her car door and tells me he's saying I have to get off the bike to get the fuel, so I do and fuel up.

I enter the shop and ask him what its all about and he says elf n safety.........  I might get burned if I had a flashback/fire whilst sat on the bike......FFS :z

I have not had to use my pre planned answer, but if someone said to me that I had to get off the bike to fuel up, I would point out that with me off the bike and on its side stand the bike has 3 points of contact.  With me sat on the bike it now has 4 points of contact and so more stable.  Also with the filler neck vertical there is less chance of fuel spilling onto a hot engine and causing a fire.

As for the helmet, I tend to take mine off automatically, or use my nearest petrol station that has pay at the pump.
