If you use that tap on something like the headlight fuse then it will only be live when the key is turned.  There are 2 slots on a fuse tap, the bottom slot uses the existing fuse which was there already, 20/10A, the top slot is used for the live wire sticking out i.e. the heated grips, probably 5A
