I had this once a few years ago in heavy rain on the motorway, down to 2 cylinders all of a sudden! Now have me flaps hanging down in front and not had a problem with getting wet in there since (snigger).
Having said that, virtually all official photos of the Fazer I've seen have had the flaps positioned behind the cam covers, and the part is named "Air guide" on the AJS website so not sure what it's intended purpose actually is?
