Hey mate,
with the premium ones you can wire them straight to the battery - they've a couple different modes to help reduce the chance of getting a flat battery - if the voltage drops below 10.5V then they switch off, and if it's between about 11.5 and 10.5 then they reduce the heat slightly and go onto an "eco" mode. If you are thinking of getting a set I'd get your order in soon, I've only got a few sets left now and now that I've also got them listed on eBay (albeit for a higher price than you guys are paying) they're really going rather quickly!
