If the speeds are going to be low as you say, and you are happy about handling the bike with his weight on the back, I'd say it'd be fine. Bump up the rear preload a bit if you think it might need it, although for 15 miles or so, it's probably not that big a deal. I've had some stupid weights on the back of bikes before (including a mate who was 6' 4'' and heavy with it, on the back of an RG500 beforeĀ :eekĀ His knees were up round my ears, and the rear shock was nearly bottomed out, front wheel barely skimming the tarmac - not to be recommended, but the madness of youth and all that... :lol ). I've never paid that close attention to exact load, as long as I'm happy with how it feels on the bike.
