Thanks stevierst and falcon 269 for your advise,
Started it when I got home from work today and it's now running fine ( idling correctly from cold start) so think your write as I did take it round the block yesterday when it did idle at 3000 rpm so hope those gremlins fell out and are long gone,I even rode to oxford and back tonight just to check every things ok and it is,
