According to my book, Fault Code 51 is "signal from key not received by immobiliser transceiver".

Possible causes: Interference from other keys / magnet
Faulty key transponder
Faulty immobiliser transceiver

Have you tried your spare key (is it possible your existing key could be damaged?)?
