dont think Yam has plans for a revamp of FZ-1. They are pinning much on grabbing street triple sales with the MT.I have posted elsewhere, but really I think many folk are elevating the MT way above what it was intended for.
Dont know the relevant sales figures, but based on I have not seen many new 1000cc sports bikes about in last 2 years, and Fz-1 is deemed to be more sporty than tourer, I think sales dont justify a revamp. Not yet at any rate.I think Yam will see how well MT 9 goes, and then....just maybe a 1200cc version, which IMO if done right would be worth looking at...
Trouble is, MT09 is not groundbreaking folks is it ?? after all its just copied the street triple ( but with crap styling) and tried to gain advantage by oversize capacity for the genre...initial sales will be good cos its priced low, but if its later £500+ plus more than a street ..aint so sure it will sell so well . It needs good reviews and thorough tests before I would part with cash. But then I dont really like how it looks...while IMO the street looks superb.its the real mccoy ....
we could be years away from an FZ-3 ( or FZ-12 ?)...but to my mind theres still interest in FZS type bikes, its just that these days folk are buying them dressed up as adventure bikes ! cue KTM adventure , duke MS...fazers really in different suits. AND BLOODY DAMN DEARER TO BUY NEW !! :eek
