The fzs is probably one of the best all weather, do it all bikes I've ridden, shame mine is going soon :-\
The mt09 might be a bit of a handful in bad weather such as sub zero due to the huge bottom end torque, so maybe not an ideal commuter.
I had a quick look through the mt09 parts catalogue, and there is a bolt on flyscreen available already. Doesn't look too bad at first glance either.
