Had the back off and there's a 4A fuse that pops as soon as the power is plugged
in, nothing obviously burnt.

Replace it with a screw (or a 13A fuse), take the TV outside and plug it back in. You should see what the problem is then. Make sure there is at least a 13A fuse in the plug first.

never,never,never replace a fuse with a screw...this is very,very,very dangerous and could cause bodily harm...i cant believe youe suggesting this BBROWN1664,shame on you....a fuse of the correct size must be fitted at all times............
