Had an SV650, naked, early model. Good little bike, nice V-twin engine, and handles decently enough. BUT; not enough oomph for longer trips and especially motorway use. Bench hard seat quickly becomes apparent after not too many miles. In heavy rain, the front cylinder plug and cap is very exposed - had mine go on to 1 cyl on M6 in heavy downpour; 45-50mph, couldn't see a foccin thing in all the spray, first time I'd had to douse electrics with WD40 to get home since my learner bikes 30-odd years ago. Not very funny :\
You're definitely going downmarket coming from a Fazer. I understand the desire to try something different, but I could never go back to an SV while there are Fazers, 600 or thou. And I think now there are many more better bikes you could choose from. If money was a real issue, ok maybe as a stop gap until you can get something better. Just my thoughts, maybe it helps, ignore it if it doesn't
