That would more than likely because the majority of bikers own their bikes either in part or in full as leisure items. Not many own a bike purely for commuting from A to B and take no enjoyment out of it
Cars can also be at least as expensive (and more so in some cases) and are harder to work on. Removing the engine from the frame and stripping down the head etc has been a lot easier than replacing the gearbox on my two previous cars... even replacing the exhaust on a car can be a lot of fun solo as the damn things so big its a pain in the ass to control its position whilst you're led on your back with only 2-3 inches of head room
