Doubt the problem is the exhaust to be honest mate... I replaced my can with a blueflame can and it's been running much better for it. I changed to a K&N air filter too... might be worth a look.

Although sounds like a carb problem or spark plugs/leads/caps to me. I am by no means an expert though so sure someone more helpfull will be along soon!
