That was the same for me, it was more like 3 fingers on the lever with the last one dangling off the ball end.
I can see why people like to use just 2 fingers, I too tend to use 2 fingers on the open road and there are times when I don't use 4 fingers at all, like trackdays. But I did an emergency braking exercise as part of a course last year and that made me realise that in an emergency I'm probably better off using 4 fingers for braking. As for the clutch, I guess that's even more about personal choice.
And its not even a choice between 2 or 4 fingers, there are many riders that use 3 and I recall something about a Japanese racer who uses his thumb as well as his fingers!
