Mileage? Used hard?
It's true that early R1 and some Fazer gearboxes suffered wear in the engagement dogs on the 2nd/6th gear pairing. Usually jumps out of gear on hard acceleration, though.
Yamaha came up with improved gears later on but that's not much help to you right now, sorry.
