I very rarely use the upper speeds of the bike and therefore would be happy losing a few mph off the top to get a bit more acceleration. would getting a couple of teeth extra on the rear make a noticeable or useful difference?

Chris
My bike has a 49 tooth on the rear (it was on it when I bought it), the bike sits just at 6k rpm at 120 KPH (74 MPH) and I am getting on average around 140/150 miles per tank. Front sprocket is standard.
May be useful to you for comparison.
