But what kind of bike would you build? Let's stick to the rules I imposed on this thread for the moment, and say it's going to be your only bike - would you go sports/sports-tourer, adventure style, all-rounder?

Pure sports bike, but with a 24L endurance tank, and some kind of brackety allowing hard luggage to be fitted!
I won't ever be going off road, and want the best from a bike in terms of it's engine, handling and brakes. To be honest, something like a K5 GSX-R1000 would probably suit me down to the ground, as I'd be after a bit of a midrange. That, combined with a bigger tank and hard luggage, and I'd have the perfect bike, able to do long distances with luggage and then hammer round the twisties when you get there. Until I hit about 40 at least, and can no longer ride one comfortably  :lol
