To be fair lycra is about as protective as an eggshell, it's only designed to hold the contents in and give you a modicum of dignity aside from nudity and often not even then.  Lycra is not protection
Opinions are like A**holes, Everyone has one.  Some people seem to have more than one though which is a bit odd.
