upgrading rear light bulbs

You shouldn't have to open out the hole.
This pic is of two LEDs. The first was a budget one that claimed to be the brightest on the planet and TBH I struggled to see the difference between that and stock.
The second cost a bit more but well worth the money. (Sorry I don't remember where or what)

I used the slightly larger led bulb which has all the led's on the end, then I remembered they only put out light in one direction so would not illuminate the number plate, and what didn't help was the bulbs didn't get any brighter when you applied the brake light!!! so they are going back, when I had my firestorm the red coloured bulbs worked as they should.
