You need to increase swearing by 40% then have another go. Maybe the wire from the switch to the bulb is  worn through and is going to ground when you turn it on. Check if youve got 12v going to the switch and then if youve got 12v going to the bulb holder with the switch on. Im only guessing here btw  :lol
