If it's a rear tyre, I would reapir - not throw away. For the front... well, depends.
Anyway, shops should be able to fix it with a "mushroom" from the inside. I'm sure they will fix punctures over 3mm, perhaps even your 10mm one. That way your tyre will be safe.
These situations are why I prefer Pirelis and Metzelers (Bridgestone too) to Michelin: proper steel belts, not just impregnated canvas that is ripped apart easily.
