Looked at a bike in the borders. It was pretty tatty, had a rattling exhaust and the compression adjusters were seized on the fork legs, the exup valve cover wouldn't come off, so couldn't check the exup valve. Not good as it was a 3hr round trip 
The guy had advertised it as good condition, f.s.h and the only fault was engine paint flaking..
