Valve Cearances
#11
Its an easier job to check these on the FZS 600 than the thou as there is less to remove (no AIS pipework etc).
Did mine last week @ 34000. Remove/Lift & support tank. Detach plug leads & move away from top of engine-note which lead goes where! Remove 8 allen head screws from top cover & 8 allen screws holding circular end caps. Also remove bolt that holds thermostat assy in position. Gently tap cover free with rubber hammer/block of wood.Carefully slide cover out on the left hand side- you may need to slightly lift the throttle cables out of the way. Remove generator cover-taking care with associated wiring. Secure this cover to side of engine out of harms way. The valve clearance check is described in Haynes manual. You need feeler gauges & possibly a torch. Took me an hour start to finish.
