Yup, probably the plates sticking. When you remove the basket look at the wear on the sides of the inner and outed baskets were the plates make contact. You will see lots of little grooves worn into the soft ally basket sides. Be prepared for the most tedious job in history... dressing out those little grooves with a small file! Easy enough to do, and a lot cheaper than a new basket, hut what a boring job.
