As a Midlander who reveres Wales for many reasons including its amazing roads/scenery, its always sad to read about the riders who come to grief.

Also might have been better to show figures for ALL classes of road user.
Not sure you can directly compare figures for large rural counties ( Powys & Carmarthenshire) with cities (Swansea & Cardiff).
Motorcycle accidents-here again further breakdown of statistics into actual CAUSE of accident would be more helpful than simply quoting total number.
In Powys (2011) of the 68 killed/injured 51 accidents involved bikes over 500cc. Don't quite see the relevance of this statistic quoted in isolation. The implication is that bikes above this capacity are "more dangerous/likely to be involved in accidents" than smaller engine machines.
Doesn't take much statistical analysis to determine "these tend to be male riders on powerful bikes,during the drier months of the year"! :eek
Far more useful(& less emotive) to break down the statistics into cause/contributory factors/location-then it is possible to address these issues rather than to use the stats to support the argument suggested here that powerful bikes are inherently dangerous.
How many were accidents in isolation(eg failed to negotiate bend-rider error) & how many involved other road users( eg car pulled out/across riders path)?
We all want to enjoy our riding & live intact to tell the tale! and in my experience it is a very small minority of riders who act irresponsibly but reports like this don't tell the whole story. :rolleyes
What do you expect, actual truth in reporting?
