Lots and lots of fine layers is key, as well as plenty of time on prep, also remember the panels are away from each other so a slight change in colour (sun fading from your older panels) wont be as noticeable than say on your car if you were respraying a wing.
Worst case and you make a mess, let it dry properly and sand your mistakes away!!
Oh and yes i agree with simonm, the silver doesnt work with the rest of the bike.

Does it need to be sanded first ? (I'm guessing sand blasting would destroy it  :lol )


You'd do prime, base coat, top coat then lacquer ?


Where would you get the paint from ? (Aerosol ?)

Never had to respray a bike so not 100%, but sand, yes to create a 'key' for the paint to stick to, primer/base coat guess not as its an already pained surface, but depending on colours/what it says on the can maybe. Then topcoat/lacquer as the can/google tells you to. Paint again not painted a bike but would guess from a yam dealer/ebay or a lot of paint specialists can make an Aerosol up for you from the paint code.

From previous threads i'm guessing your thinking about you own bike simonm? Not sure as to what damage and what repairs you have done, but filler absorbs paint so will need primer, and have never painted over plastic welds but again i'm sure they will need some level of primer to get them ready for top coat.
