I, personally, think a respray is needed. There is just too much silver in contrast to the blue. If you're buying it to protect the underbelly more than for aesthetics then silver isn't unattractive but it does stand out as a bolt on to me.
I think you could go for blue or black. Black would probably be cheaper as the paint may not be as rare. But I'd stick with the blue like the rest of the bike.
If you go for black you could attempt a DIY finish, there are plenty of videos on Youtube but I don't know if sanding, basecoat, top coat, laquer is something for a DIY'er to get a good finish with (I'm rubbish at spraying). If you decide to get someone to spray it for you in the future you could always blame it on someone else. The good thing is that unlike a fuel tank it's easy to attach and detatch. Shop around and you may get a cash deal.
