Adjusting that plastic nut should do it - I managed it the other day. Shouldn't have to bend any springs although a good clean & de-gunk could help.
I put the bike up on the centre-stand and span the wheel then depressed the lever whilst watching the light to check when the it comes on. Rule of thumb is for the light to come on just after theĀ brake stops the wheel. Good luck
