What kind of condition is the bike in? 14k isn't much so as long as it hasn't been abused engine should be ok.
Brakes might need a good clean out, but if it was brakes i'd expect it to be a constant noise. Has the chain been properly lubed and adjusted?
Where abouts is the noise coming from? front, back?
