I guess it's still early in the season, especially with the current weather, for bikes to be selling. Put a wanted advert in the classifieds section on here, you never know 
What do you want the bike for? commuting? traveling? if so on, your own or 2 up? blasting country lanes at the weekend? trackdays?
3K should get you a fairly nice thou with a couple of extras on. Have you considered a fzs600 2002 - 2003 foxeye model? Albeit slower and slightly smaller than a thou you would be getting a lot more for your money. You could pick up a mint 600 for around 2 -2.5k and have lots of money left over for mods or some new gear 8)
